Turning Point Walk the Course Quail Hollow
Hello to all of you who made the important decision to speak out against domestic violence and register for Walk the Course Against Domestic Violence. Together we raised an incredible $100,000! It was an amazing day and we are so thankful for your participation and passion for this important cause.
Avon Foundation for Women distributed a $15,000 grant to Turning Point of Union County who work to keep women and children safe and educated, help get them out of potentially dangerous situations, and will give them hope for a brighter, violence-free future. Did you know that more than 614 domestic violence-related homicides have occurred in North Carolina since 2003, and it’s estimated that up to 15 million children in the United States are witnesses to such violence every year? I cannot ignore these shocking statistics, so I’ve made a commitment to work toward changing it, and I need your help.
On May 3, 2011 I spent the evening walking, along with hundreds of others in the 3rd annual Walk the Course Against Domestic Violence, a project of the Avon Foundation for Women held in collaboration with the PGA TOUR Wives Association and the BMW Championship, on the exclusive Quail Hollow Club golf course. We walked eighteen holes (5 miles) to raise funds and awareness to help create a world in which domestic violence is unacceptable.
100% of the event proceeds will go towards this cause. The money raised is managed and distributed by the Avon Foundation for Women, a 501(c) (3) public charity with a mission to improve the lives of women and their families. Through their Speak Out Against Domestic Violence initiative, funds raised will be put to work immediately and effectively in the North Carolina community.
